Congratulations to Minuteman Press - DTC!
The purpose of the Greenwood Village Chamber of Commerce Tall Timbers Award is to honor an outstanding local business, its management, and its employees. The Award recipient will be recognized as a leader in its industry and as a role model in the community.
Minuteman Press DTC has been part of our community since 2005. It's one of those stories that you hear about - people wanting to leave corporate America in pursuit of their own dreams and aspirations that can be found in the world of small business ownership which is the backbone of our great country.
This year's winner is focused primarily in a "Business to Business" application rather than consumer retail. When you watch owner Mary Tobeck pounding the pavement you really get an understanding of the commitment to effective face to face networking, getting to know people on a deeper level and developing business more as a consequence of relationship rather than "selling".
Volunteerism is an important aspect of Minuteman Press DTC. Many hours have been committed to the chamber in the form of committee participation and sharpening the pencil to provide as much value as possible when doing business with the Chamber. Outside of the Chamber the owner is deeply involved in community issues such as volunteering to support causes like Douglas County Family Crisis Center and Support Task Force Store as well as a worldwide women's advocacy organization.
In the business itself, when it was purchased in 2005 a great deal of the customer base left out of loyalty to the previous owner so it was go right to square 1one and build. Now in 2008, the fruits of that building are coming back in the form of many of those early customers referring new business due to the relationship they've built. They have been recently recognized by the parent organization for year over year growth and meeting lofty goals.
A great deal of focus has been the laying in of technology to stay at pace with the industry at large and to keep up with the changing requirements of their customers. When it comes to getting the job done it's all about making sure their axes are always sharp and they are known in the community as being on that leading edge of tech.
But machinery and technology is only part of the equation. It is very apparent that the people behind the machines are no less important than the owners out on the street beating the drum for new business. Without the expertise, vision, and commitment of those folks behind the scenes, they would not be where they are today.
For the past two years, Mayor Nancy Sharpe of Greenwood Village delivered the State of The Village address. This year, Minuteman Press DTC was singled out by the Mayor as being a true example of the types of successful businesses that live here in Greenwood Village.
A special thanks to Greenwood Village Mayor Nancy Sharpe who joined us for this year's awards event!
